Finca La Donaira stands out for its commitment to true sustainability and its range of unique experiences in harmony with nature. Since its inception, the property has been working on being self-sufficient, creating an ecological project that blends tradition and innovation.
La Donaira meets the rigorous requirements of Relais & Châteaux, as the constant pursuit of balance between animals, nature, and humans is at the core of its values.
It offers high-quality gastronomy, with products from its own organic garden, farm, and medicinal garden. In doing so, La Donaira serves as an example of how luxury and sustainability can indeed coexist.
The estate is located in the heart of the Serranía de Ronda, in Montecorto, spanning over 700 hectares of ecological land.
The over 111-year-old Cortijo features 9 rooms & suites, as well as spacious areas restored to integrate nature into every corner. The decor combines rural and contemporary elements, creating a cozy and exclusive atmosphere.
Finca La Donaira also offers accommodation in two deluxe yurts for those seeking a closer connection with nature, creating a holistic and environmentally friendly experience. The state-of-the-art facilities include a spa with a hammam and sauna, and a pool with spring wáter.
La Donaira's cuisine is characterized by its simplicity and authenticity, based on traditional flavors. All food served comes from its organic garden or local collaborators. The menus are designed daily with ingredients harvested from the farm, creating delicate and authentic flavors.
They produce raw milk cheeses, butter, bread, and have their own natural wines, extra virgin olive oil, honey, almond milk, and free-range eggs, while the meat comes from the farm’s free-range herds of sheep and Wagyu cattle, which spend their days grazing on expansive estate.
Guests enjoy unique experiences that emphasize the connection with the land and its philosophy, such as Forest Bathing. They can also participate in equestrian activities, interact with over 90 Lusitano horses, visit the farm and organic gardens, hike, trek, cycle, or simply meditate in Spain's only bee bed.
The estate offers tastings of natural and biodynamic wines in unique spaces like the greenhouse or under an ancient oak tree and is home to endangered species like the Pajuna cow and the Andalusian donkey. Waking up to birdsongs, relaxing in the infinity pool, experiencing sensory treatments in the spa, enjoying yoga and sound baths, or simply lying under a 700-year-old oak tree and enjoying the peace are the simple luxuries La Donaira offers.
In good company, with conversations around the table lasting into the early hours under starry skies, guests discover natural, biodynamic, and organic wines from more than 350 European references. From their own vineyard, they produce Petit Verdot and Blaufränkisch wines. They are also part of the Roca Viva Wines Project, collaborating with vintners across Andalusia.
The project is an initiative led by David Raya, driven by a desire to rescue and revitalize unique vineyards in Andalusia, and his devotion to wines that are honest, pure, and genuine. Currently, alongside his business partner Peter Freislederer, and in Joint Venture with Finca La Donaira, Roca Viva Wines produces natural wines originating from varied Andalusian terroirs, using local grapes, with each wine reflecting its unique identity, firmly committed to the sustainability of the vineyards, the land, and its people.
Embracing artisanal and sustainable winemaking techniques, they combine tradition with innovation, creating wines that are expressive, clean, and chemical-free. Their mission extends beyond wine, aiming to regenerate overused lands through sustainable agriculture. The name “Roca Viva” symbolizes their goal to bring life back to Andalusia’s depleted soils.
